Central Austin is home to historic Clarksville, Tarrytown and Old West neighborhoods. You will also find Mount Bonnell, Bright Leaf Preserve, Camp Mabry Texas National Guard, Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve, Deep Eddy Pool, the north jogging and bike path around Lady Bird Lake, the Texas State Capital building, the main campus of the University of Texas – including Darrell K. Royal stadium, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, restaurants, coffee shops, antique shops, 6th street, and many live music venues.

Central Austin is bounded on the north by FM 2222 (Koenig Lane), IH-35 on the east, the Colorado River (Lady Bird Lake and Lake Austin) on the south and a short stretch of Loop 360 from the red bridge back up to FM 2222.
